What we hold, and what we made sure not to.
Two Cents holds what two people spend, so this page is specific about the parts that matter: what is stored, what analytics are built to exclude, and who else touches it.
The short version
Two Cents holds what two people spend. That is the whole product, so the list below is deliberately short, and the analytics that tell us whether the app works are built to exclude the numbers themselves.
We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and there are no third-party ad or tracking SDKs in the app.
What we store
Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. From that we receive and store your name, email address, profile photo and an account identifier. If you sign in with Apple and use Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us.
Your household and its entries
The budget, the currency, the categories, the day you check in, the invite code, and each partner’s name and chosen avatar tone. Every expense you record: its amount, category, date, an optional note, and which of you added it.
This is stored in Google Firestore so both phones see the same month. Two people sharing a household can see everything in it — that is the point of the app.
A profile picture, if you set one
A picture you choose yourself is uploaded to Google Cloud Storage so your partner’s phone can show it. A picture that came from Apple or Google is only a link, and is never copied by us.
A notification token
If you turn notifications on, we store a push token so the other phone can be told when something is added. Turning notifications off in your system settings stops it being used.
What the analytics collect — and what they never do
We use PostHog to see whether the app works: how many people finish setting it up, whether entries get added, which screens get used. It runs in our own PostHog organisation.
No amount, note, name or email address is ever sent to analytics. An event says that an expense was added, which category it was, whether it was backdated and whether it had a note — never what it was for or what it cost. You are identified there by your account identifier only.
Two things are switched off deliberately. Autocapture would record taps and the text inside them, which on the keypad screen is the amount being typed. Session replay would record the screen. Neither is on, and neither will be.
Alongside the events, PostHog receives the ordinary technical context an app sends: device model, operating system version, app version, locale and time zone, and the IP address the request came from.

They act as our processors. We do not give your data to anyone else.
Your choices
- Delete an entry at any time, from the entry itself. It is removed for both of you.
- Sign out from the You two tab. That clears the app on your device.
- Ask us to delete your account and everything in it by emailing hello@opensoftlabs.org from your account’s address. We will confirm when it is done.
- Turn notifications off in your phone’s settings, or from the app.
Because a household is shared, deleting your account does not delete entries your partner added, or their copy of the month you shared.
How long we keep it
Your household and its entries stay until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Analytics events are kept for 12 months and then removed.
Children
Two Cents is not built for children and is not directed at anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we will change this page and move the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged in the app before they take effect.
